Rivage

Purpose of the competition

“The project which is the subject of this competition consists in implementing an intervention in semi-perennial design in order to enhance La Promenade Fleury. If it is not a question of transforming the shape of the street as a whole, the project to enhance Fleury East Street aims to improve the experience of its users and create a friendly, unifying environment and distinctive for them.

The Commercial Development Company (SDC) Promenade Fleury wishes to set up a design intervention that will offer a new experience to users, improve the atmosphere of the street, strengthen the identity of La Promenade Fleury and, more broadly, contribute the quality of life in the neighborhood.”

Our competition proposal
Our urban development project was finalists for the Promenade Fleury competition. The aim of the competition was to enhance the promenade over a period of 5 years. RIVAGE project is an achievement that stems from a partnership with the Collectif Escargo and the LABOUTIQUE Workshop .

A raft to sail the Fleury Promenade
By visiting the Fleury promenade, you will discover a lively commercial artery and the heart of a neighborhood. The varied and charming shops are linked to the pleasure of regulars of all ages. The alleys flow there like playful streams which feed the river.

The concept of the project is based on the history of the promenade and the river. The river that once took its place takes up its space. Because long before being a promenade, the space where we find today the Fleury Est promenade was a river that was used as a commercial artery used by the Amerindians.

Cradled in the waves of everyday life
To properly represent the concept, Rivage uses three principles to transport Fleury users from one end to the other, namely: Sail (the rafts), Float (the markings on the ground) and Anchor (the vegetation). The “rafts” are seasonal installations placed on the sidewalk projections which form public urban plots where staging by users takes place. They take ownership of the new layout, from one end of the promenade to the other. The rafts transport us and invite us to discoveries and meetings. Our exploration stay is modulated by the contemplation of the places, the joy, the energy and the excitement of the journey.
